Putting a price on Art

Being an Artist it is some times hard to put a price on your creativity. I had to step back and take a look at my Art with different eyes.

I do very unique designs with detailed work and clean lines. A lot of thought goes into each piece, from the theme, colors, textures and all the hours put into just one necklace. I use many elements and hundreds of glass seed beads to create a story letting others determine just what that story might be.

Every person, experience and moment in time there is only one like it. That is why I only make one of each design to stir emotions, thoughts, visions, mystery, to even ask the question, Why? To give one person something that is as unique, special and one of a kind like they are.

If I can do this, then my gift is priceless.

How to wear ToxicDaisy Jewelry

I have been designing Modern Hemp Jewelry for several years, even though many love my art they are finding it hard to add to their own style.

Here is an example of how I create a style starting with
the necklace.  I pulled the colors from the necklace and
built around it. I use a three color pallet, two colors for
the out fit and one color added into the accessories.

Many may say "this is not my style".  It is not so much
about what it is but how it is put together.  It's really about color.  Pull something you love from your own closet, pick a color out of the set that you really like then build your accessories
from that color.

The only difference from store bought jewelry and my
jewelry is that mine is made with hemp not metal and
that there is only one of each design hand made, not
mass produced.

There really is no formula, right or wrong way to put
fashion together.  It's all about what you like and what
makes you happy.  Your one of a kind, be who you want
to be and wear what you like.

One the rule about fashion, there are no rules.
Love your self and your fashion, have fun with it.

Lost Jewelry

Today it is the end of September and a beautiful morning as we move into Fall.

If one slows down for just one second they would be surprised by what the world has laid before them.  A gentle Autumn breeze that moves the hair from our face, a bright colored leaf that slowly falls landing at our feet and hearing the sounds of small animals getting ready for the winter months ahead.

This is where an Artist gets their inspiration.  Have you seen the world today?

As I drink my coffee this morning  I scan through hundreds of pictures of handmade jewelry, I like to see what others are doing.  I did see many interesting designs but more often then not I was distracted by the way the items were displayed.

You spend all that time creating what was in your imagination then you just throw it on a table or a plastic bowl and take a picture of it for the world to see. The process does not stop at the last knot.

So may times all I see in the picture is a women's chest, a hairy arm or a very white foot with bad toe nails.  This distraction causes me to forget that there is actually jewelry in the picture.
Isn't it all about showing the world your Art?

I have found after working on a piece for some time up close it is good to step away for a little while and come back with fresh eyes.  This allows me to see the item for the first time.  Now that my Jewelry piece is complete I want to show it to the world.  Here again the key word is piece or item.  As they say less is more.

Now it is time to take that picture.  You can never take back that first impression.

When I first started out I would use a scanner to capture all the details in the knotting of the Jewelry.  Pretty simple, clean and to the point.  I received an email from a person that liked my jewelry but wanted to know why I didn't show pictures of what the necklace looked like when worn. Good question.  It made me think what do I look for  when shopping, what catches my eye.  So I went back and took more pictures that still showed all the detail but did not clutter or distract from what I was really wanting to show, my artistic creation.

My best advise would be keep it simple, clean and focused as if you were the admire.
May you be successful in all that you do.
